Folio Marble Honed Finish

Folio is a bone marble, cream bone, with lighter bone highlights running through it. The veining is calcite grey, and there are fine gold spider veins threading across some of the pieces. Honed to a soft, low sheen, it has a smooth surface that feels warm underfoot and sits comfortably in older houses and in newer, quieter architecture.

Folio is quarried rather than manufactured, so it varies. Tone shifts from piece to piece, the grey calcite runs heavier in some than others, and the gold spider veining appears more in some pieces than others. That movement is what gives a Folio floor its depth. As with any marble, it needs blending as it is laid, and that is an artistic job rather than a mechanical one. Tiles are supplied loose, so lay several out together, look at them dry, and spread the lighter and heavier pieces across the whole room rather than letting them gather in one area. No marble looks its best until it is grouted, sealed and the room is finished. Judge it then, not part way through.

Folio is supplied unsealed and will need sealing before and after grouting to keep it looking its best. It is for internal use, on walls and floors, and works in bathrooms, showers and wet rooms, kitchens and hallways.

Complementary slabs for bespoke work

We hold Folio in slab form alongside the tiles, so worktops, vanity tops, shower trays, window sills, thresholds and step treads can all be cut in Folio to sit with the floor. It is the same marble, but the tiles and the slabs are cut from different blocks and produced at different times, so the slab complements the tile rather than matches it.
