Bruton Limestone Seasoned Pitchers

Rooted in tradition and rich in character, Bruton Limestone Pitchers bring a sense of permanence and natural warmth to outdoor spaces. Long, narrow and linear, the pitcher is one of the oldest paving formats there is. These setts were traditionally laid on hillside roads, where the many joints gave horses’ hooves better grip on steep inclines. Today they bring the same sense of history to paths, courtyards and garden walkways.

Sourced from a small, family-run quarry in Europe, Bruton is formed in distinct layers and is riven, which means it is split along its natural bedding planes rather than sawn. As a result, every pitcher has a textured, irregular face and its own width and thickness. Tumbling softens the edges and gives the stone an aged, settled quality. The colours move from warm beige through soft greys and greige, with occasional flashes of tan.

Pitchers can also be used as wall cladding, where the riven faces add depth and texture to walls and garden features. Sealing is recommended to protect the surface and preserve the stone’s natural variation over time.
