Chequerboard Kitchen Tiles
A kitchen, especially an open-plan one, often has more uninterrupted floor and wall space than any other room in the house, which gives a two-tone pattern plenty of room to establish itself. A monochrome floor in black-and-white marble holds its own against an island or a run of cabinetry, while two softer stone tones set beside each other sit comfortably behind it for a scheme built on calm rather than contrast.
On a splashback, that same idea turns into a chance to bring in colour without committing to a single block shade across the whole wall: pair one hue against white, or let two contrasting tiles play off each other behind the hob.
Laid straight, the grid keeps a clean, orderly line that suits a working kitchen; tip the same grid onto its point instead and it becomes a diamond, adding a touch of movement to a splashback or floor without changing the palette. For a contemporary kitchen built around pattern as much as colour, our collection lets the two-tone structure carry that weight.
