Chequerboard Bathroom Tiles
A bathroom is small enough that floor and wall often sit within the same sightline, which is exactly where a two-tone pattern earns its place. Black-and-white marble, laid in monochrome, gives a period-style room plenty of confidence underfoot, while two quieter stone tones paired side by side settle the same idea into something calmer and more nuanced, better suited to a scheme built around rest rather than drama.
Above the tiles, colour becomes the tool, whether that means setting one shade against white or placing two colours side by side, and either route brings a lighter, more playful note into the room than a single block colour would. Taken up to roughly half height around a bath or basin, that same pairing marks out a zone on the wall, no shelf or screen required.
Switch the layout onto the diagonal, though, and it resolves into a diamond, a shift that suits a bathroom's more contained scale and finishes at a pointed, raised edge rather than a flat line. Long associated with grand interiors, our two-tone approach translates easily into bathroom tile ideas built around pattern rather than colour alone.
