The Old Bakehouse

The Old Bakehouse in Shalford has been transformed into a showcase office - a working space that doubles as a welcoming environment for clients to meet, present and talk through their projects in a setting that feels considered rather than corporate. Designed by Seven & Co Studio, the concept takes its cue from the building's past. Ground to Table follows the baking process, where ingredients are drawn from the ground, crafted by hand and finally presented at the table.

That narrative runs through every material choice. The aesthetic is refined rustic farmhouse, warm and textured and quietly authentic, with varied wood tones, soft textiles and a neutral palette layered for depth. A herringbone carpet lends a sense of heritage while café curtains offer a subtle nod to tradition. The layout centres on key table spaces for collaboration, supported by a welcoming entrance, integrated material displays and practical areas to work.

In the bathroom, a mixture of formats brings variation to the eye, with the large format of Hoxton Porcelain in Amber Matt set against the slender bricks of Foundry Novo Porcelain in Linen and Beige, some tiles carrying a more rustic nature than others. "We wanted the bathroom to feel warm like the south of France's sunshine, touching on the caramel sunsets over the fields," explains Tayla Exter of Seven & Co Studio.

It is the mosaics, though, that Tayla returns to. Enso Cobble Mosaic Strip in Sand and Enso Mosaic Organic Basketweave take on the kitchen splashback and the bathroom floor, finished in Resin-Cement Grout Champagne. "There's something so beautiful about tiles but also the space around them filled with grout, which transforms the overall look."

Working with pieces so early in their launch added something to the process too. "From my visit to Devizes to see all the other options within the range to my showroom visit in Hartley Wintney, everyone has been on hand to ensure this project's design intent from our studio is met. My vision for this project wasn't altered by the selection offered but rather enhanced." The result is warm, grounded and crafted, a space that reflects quality, care and the journey from concept to completion.
