Inspired by the intricate marble floors of the Scuola Grande di San Rocco in Venice, our client set us the challenge to replicate these beautiful designs in his own home.

We embraced the challenge by initially commencing a geological study to identify the marbles that matched those in the original designs dating back to 1478 – including feature medallions and incorporating a mix of Belgium Black, Rosso Verona, Sintra, Noce, Giallo Sienna, Bardiglio Scuro, Blue De Savoir, Pietra Gray and some of the most elaborate pieces of rare Onyx. We discovered that a lot of these materials are no longer quarried, proving this project was indeed a challenge.

Having digitally surveyed the property, the design team carried out extensive work by computer aided design, creating colour visuals from samples of the marble to ensure we were replicating the concept and in place achieve the 3D appearance of the medallions. With every piece identified and detailed on our cutting list, the materials were produced and dry laid in the workshop prior to being installed at our customers home. The installation team then carried out a world-class installation working to minimal tolerance and margins to ensure everything was in its place.
