A season bursting with inspiration, opportunities and a renewed sense of well-being, spring was the perfect palette for digital creator Megan’s family home by the sea. Megan, of @kitandco_ began her transformation with the large open-plan space downstairs. Light, bright and airy with no restricting barriers, Megan loves the open-plan look, as it gives her family more space to play, to dance and to entertain. This blank canvas was the perfect setting for our Farley Limestone floor tiles in a seasoned finish and Parquet design.
“Natural stone flooring adds such an abundance of character,” says Megan, “and I couldn’t be more thrilled with how this project has transformed the downstairs using Ca’ Pietra’s Farley Limestone Parquet. The tones may be soft and muted but the stone is as hard as nails. Virtually indestructible, in fact. The natural riven surface of the stone is smoothed off, then seasoned to give the appearance of a time-worn country house floor. The best decision I’ve made yet.”
The generously sized hallway creates a lovely warm welcome for family and friends thanks to the winning combination of our stone floor with deep yellow walls. “The hallway always lifts the spirits,” adds Megan. “Less of a true sunny yellow, this archive yellow creates a feeling of instant warmth while enjoying a beautiful rawness under direct light with soft ochre pigments so it never feels overpowering. I especially love it against the limestone parquet.”
With a dining area and kitchen to one side, featuring fabulously vibrant red and white striped curtains and a cosy wood burner for chilly days, the spring-time palette continues into the hardworking boot room. Our Farley Limestone Parquet is carried through and looks stunning with the chirpy yellow and spring green theme on cabinetry and walls. The strong brown yellow painted wooden units hold their own against the wallpaper with its trail or twisting ivy leaves. Bringing a sense of the outside in, it’s the perfect backdrop for our natural stone floor tiles, enhancing the warm and rustic look.
For the family bathroom, a sea theme works wonderfully with our Marlborough Terracotta Parquet tiles for the floor, laid with a natural seagrass rug on top. The natural reclaimed stone is sustainable as well as warm underfoot, highly durable and perfect for bathrooms. Megan has also used our Seaton Ceramic tiles in a bold Sea Cabbage green at half height on the walls and has teamed this with a stunning wallpaper featuring block printed sea themed shapes. The scheme is charming and characterful and a joy to spend time in.
In the guest ensuite, Megan has again used our Marlborough Terracotta Parquet tiles for the floor and combined this rustic natural stone with our Maroc Porcelain tiles in Bianco for the half-height wall behind the freestanding basin and WC. “A homage to the ancient Moroccan tradition of Zellige tiles, these Maroc tiles have a subtle tonal variation and gorgeous deep glossy finish on a slightly undulated surface for a beautifully authentic handmade feel,” says Megan. “Paired with the Marlborough Terracotta Parquet, it works well with the warming pink and pops of red on the woodwork.”
When it came to the master ensuite, Megan went for a full-on pink-on-pink design, creating a warm and cocooning sanctuary. Our Marlborough Terracotta Parquet creates the perfect warmth and durability underfoot while block printed floral wallpaper and an earthy clay-coloured finish for the wooden wall and bath panelling brings a textural feel that oozes character and charm. This home is a perfect example of how you can bring personality and colour into any space to bring joy to the everyday, no matter what the weather’s doing outside.
