Frequently Asked Sample Questions:

1. How do I order a sample?

To order a sample, simply visit the product page of your chosen tile or natural stone product, and select which type of sample you would like to receive. Alternatively, pop into one of our retailer partner's showroooms (just call ahead to make sure they have stock).

2. What is a cut tile sample?

A cut tile sample is a small piece of a full sized tile, that represents the colour, texture, material and finish of the tile, so you can see how it may look in your home. Cut tile sample sizes can vary per product, but are roughly 10 x 10cm.

3. How many tile samples can I order?

The amount of samples you can order varies depending on the type of sample you are looking to purchase:

You can purchase up to 6 cut tile samples for free, plus a postage charge.

You can purchase 4 full tile samples of our smaller format decorative products, plus a postage charge.

We also offer 30x40cm cut samples of our larger format products. These also include a postage charge.

Please remember a sample is just a small representation of the overall product, and we advise to view them in different lights and at least 2m away.

4. How long do samples take to be delivered?

Sample deliveries are typically within 3 – 5 working days dependent on stock available at the time. If you have not received after this time, please contact us on hello@capietra.com with your order number.

5. Do the samples come sealed?

All of our natural stone, marble and encaustic tile samples will come already sealed with Stone Essentials Stain Block Sealant. This is so that you can see how the final product will actually appear. Our terracotta tile samples are sealed with Stone Essentials Stone Shield Sealant.

6. Should I buy a cut tile sample or a full tile sample?

This is a personal preference. If you are just looking to view colour of a tile, or even the texture and material, then a cut tile sample may suffice. However, if you are looking to see a full pattern, or how a tile might appear in different lights around a room, we would recommend purchasing a full tile sample.

7. Will my samples represent the images I see online?

We do our best to accurately represent our products through their imagery online, but it is important to remember that factors like screen colour and brightness can create a difference between what you see online and the product in real life. For this reason, we strongly encourage you to purchase a sample before ordering the full amount of product. If you are unhappy with how your sample looks, try putting it in different lighting, as this can change its appearance significantly.

8. Is the sample representative of current stock?

Tiles and natural stone can vary in shade and size between batches. This is usually due to production methods,  glazes, or natural factors at a quarry. This can mean that on rare occasions, your sample may differ slightly from the full order. Our product team endeavours to ensure this doesn't happen, and we replace our sample stock if we notice that samples don't represent the stocked product.

9. What is the best way to view my sample?

Once you have received your sample, we suggest you place it in the area you plan to install it. This will give you an idea of how the product would look in the space, considering factors like lighting. You should always view your sample from the same distance as you would view it once installed: this is because some tiles may have minor imperfections that are only visible up close.

10. Can I view your samples and products in a showroom?

Yes, we have our own showrooms and a comprehensive network of retail partners across the UK, who stock our samples and sometimes have products installed. You can use our Showrooms & Partners locator to find a location near you. We suggest that you call ahead of visiting to ensure they have the sample you would like to view.

11. Should an order be placed on recieving just a sample and not viewing the tile installed?

A sample is a great starting point, and many customers order on seeing samples alone. However, seeing a tile installed tells a fuller story, and can capture details like variation and pattern repeat to a fuller extent. To help you order with confidence, we recommend viewing the tile in situ or installed where possible.

12. Do you accept returns and refunds on samples?

Unfortunately we do not accept returns and refunds on any of our samples.
