Discovering what the kitchen trends of tomorrow will be is one of the highlights of the interiors calendar. As the hub of the home, it is the room that gets the most attention and where we see oodles of personality and expression.
As 2023 comes to a close, 2024 is all about drama with a side of nature. Bold colours and sparkly metallics. Curves and textures galore. Grazzie Wilson, Head of Creative at Ca’ Pietra shares her take on kitchen trends 2024 with you:
BLOCK COLOURS
2024 is the year we dare to be fearless with our kitchen colour schemes. The trend sees us drench our kitchen and any additional living/dining space in rich, bold colours; embracing our love of colour in a way that truly makes the most of it. However, bold paint colours shouldn’t clash or scream at you when you walk in the door, and it is important that you tie them into the rest of the space. If you are using tiles for your kitchen splashback or on the floor, consider picking out one of the shades in the tiles to use on your walls, and then complement the same tonal shade on your kitchen cabinets.
HIGH DRAMA MATERIALS
Our love affair with marble continues into 2024 and this is the year where we see the drama and opulence it evokes dialled up even further. We might be used to seeing marble in the bathroom, but this year marble moves into the kitchen, but in a lower maintenance material, porcelain. Lucky for us, we now live in an era where the beauty of marble can be replicated on porcelain tiles and boy do we have some new collections that tick all the boxes.
If you do decide to bring this trend into your own kitchen, consider choosing extra-large format tiles. Doing so means less grout lines so it provides a more seamless and sleek finish. Use the tiles continuously from your worktop to splashback to create a faultless appearance. They also can be used on kitchen islands to give the illusion of a solid stone sculpture.

THE BEAUTY OF WOOD
The great outdoors and all its natural beauty is taking precedent within our homes. From colour palettes to materials, we just can’t get enough of it and with good reason. We associate outside with nature, well-being, and health and so it makes sense to want to bring that into our kitchens.
From its warming colours through to its abundance of texture we’re leaving our kitchen cabinets unpainted and turning to wood worktops. We’re also considering it for our flooring too, but it can take a lot of upkeep, especially in kitchens that see a lot of action.
That’s why wood effect porcelain tiles are a great alternative to bringing the trend into the home but with added practicality benefits of being low-maintenance, hardwearing and easy to clean.
What wood you choose to bring the trend to life is a personal one. Are you the rustic sort who likes their wood full of character and raw appeal? KITCHEN CURVES
Who doesn’t love the softness of curves and the gentle rhythm they infuse into a space? Which is why they are one of the big trends of 2024 in kitchen design. While we’ll see curves dominating kitchen islands, it doesn’t mean that the trend can’t translate through to other areas of your kitchen.
Consider a scallop edged tile as a splashback to add a new dimension and movement that replicates other curves in your kitchen. Or let your tiles lead from the front and be the hero curves of your kitchen design.

THE GLAMOUR OF METALLICS
2024 is all about reinventing the roaring 20s in our home, and what better way than adding a statement piece to our kitchens in the form of a luxe metallic splashback.
Splashback are often one of the first things you notice when you enter a kitchen, so it is important to think carefully as to how to make it count. The on-going trend for luxe metals means there are some eye-catching tile designs available. If you do decide to add a metallic splashback, our recommendation is to play to the material’s strength by adding backlighting or down lighting to make the most of the glamour it affords. Our Rococo mirror tiles are a nod to this trend and super easy to keep clean too.
TEXTURED SURFACES
Utilising textures in kitchen design can make a huge different to the overall aesthetics of the room, adding visual interest and tactile appeal to pared-back colour schemes. In colour-rich kitchens, texture can break up bold blocks of colour and help to zone different areas.
In 2024, it is all about mixing different textured surfaces, from exposed brick to wood and stone. If you don’t have these materials to hand, they can be replicated through the use of tiles, both on your walls and floors.
Choose terracotta or limestone if you want something soft, neutral and natural, or, if you prefer pattern then you might be firmly in team terrazzo.
SERENE SHADES
It might be the busiest room under your roof, but 2024 sees kitchens getting a whole lot more zen. This is a trend that’s less about cabinetry concealing everything, so it becomes completely clutter-free. Think more along the lines of tiles that gives a sense of calmness and clarity. Kitchens drenched in the same serene shades. This trend isn’t about making a statement with your tiles, it’s about letting in all just blend into one.
