Craven House is a project defined by detail. Ca’ Pietra supplied materials across the pool, steam room, shower and connecting spaces, with a brief to create a consistent palette throughout. Each area carries its own atmosphere, but the materials remain closely related, allowing the scheme to move naturally from one space to the next. The clients were longstanding Ca’ Pietra clients and brought a new phase of there project to us with a clear vision for the scheme. There are houses that reward patience. Craven House is one of them.

A new level-deck pool forms the centre of the scheme, with the water sitting flush to the surrounding surface to create a continuous plane across the space. Islington Porcelain White Textured is used across the surrounding floor in a 90 x 90cm format, establishing a clean and neutral base. The pool edge is defined by bespoke coping grilles in the same material, waterjet cut with diagonal slots and laminated to stainless steel, with mitred corners maintaining an uninterrupted line around the perimeter for the level-deck system. Access steps, submerged below the water line, are formed in Blandford Limestone, each individually templated with a full bullnose front edge and radiused sides. The pool interior is lined with a custom sourced glass mosaic, selected to give the water its specific tone.

The steam room is centred around a single feature. A backlit panel of Namibian White Marble, quarried in the Damara region of Namibia, forms the focal point, with natural veining revealed through illumination. Surrounding mosaics were custom sourced in the same format as the pool, with a subtle shift in colour to define the space while maintaining continuity.

Calcite Azul Extra is used throughout the shower enclosure. The stone is fabricated into large-format panels, with a niche set cleanly into the back wall, alongside a vanity splashback and WC niche. The linear movement within the material introduces structure without the need for additional detailing.

A polished Amazonite slab forms the radial bar top & adjacent shelf, a semi-precious Brazilian granite quarried from the state of Paraíba. Finished with a double pencil edge to the front and returns, it sits as a distinct element within the space, introducing depth of colour against the otherwise restrained palette.

Blandford Limestone Honed runs throughout as skirting and step treads, finished with a bespoke ogee profile. Used consistently, it provides a quiet transition between spaces and brings the scheme together without drawing attention away from the primary materials.
