Ca' Pietra x Divine Savages

We are thrilled to announce the launch of a new capsule collection in collaboration with maximalist interiors brand Divine Savages.

British design house Divine Savages was founded in 2017 by husbands Jamie Watkins and Tom Kennedy, to create bold, eccentric and luxurious wallpapers, fabrics, art prints and accessories that enable everyone to express their personality through their home.

Taking their inspiration from history, culture, fashion and the natural world, their melting pot of influences makes them the perfect partner for Ca’ Pietra and any of these tiles would pair beautifully with the Ca’ Pietra Studio Jamboree collection with their bold blocks of colour.

We spoke with Jamie and Tom about their inspiration behind the designs…

Can you introduce us to the new capsule collection:
This collaboration is part of the Ca’ Pietra Studio Collection and comprises 12 tiles with six designs over two collections. Six are inspired by The Brambles wallpaper and six are influenced by our Lovebirds prints. Each ceramic tile measures 13cm x 13cm with a gloss finish, is made to order and is suitable for internal walls.

Tell us more about The Brambles tiles:
Our Brambles collection is based on our wallpaper of the same name. It’s an archive print that we lovingly restored. Brambles have got kind of a bad reputation in the British countryside but they are actually really important to ecosystems and they protect small animals as well. So, we separated out the individual flowers – roses and hydrangeas and daises - and put them on these lovely rustic tiles.

And the Lovebirds designs?
The second collection is inspired by our Lovebirds print. A celebration of avian courtship rituals, it’s also inspired by an archive print that we found and lovingly restored and is full of tropical, flirty romance. We thought these cute birds and florals would be perfect for a tile collection.

Which rooms do you envisage these tiles being used in and any particular feature areas?
We have already used these as a feature in our fireplace in the dining room, adding a subtle pop of pattern to an otherwise empty space. They’d also be perfect for adding detail in a kitchen as a splashback, and of course a bathroom or powder room to add some personality.

Will both collections complement classic and contemporary interiors?
We designed these to work in all kinds of decor schemes, with their colour palette lending themselves to both classic and contemporary interiors. The delicate flowers featured within The Brambles collection adds a delicate charm, whilst the quirky Lovebirds bring a splash of flamboyance.

Any tips on laying patterns?
We love using our tile collection with a complementary plain square tile - you can get really creative with your tile patterns this way. Think about stripes and chequerboard layouts or working with a fun border. The combinations are endless, so put your own stamp on your space and tile like you mean it!
