Zellige Effect Tiles

Zellige is the handmade Moroccan wall tile that has quietly taken over British kitchens and bathrooms. Small in format, glossy and uneven, its glaze pools thick at the edges and thins across the face, so a wall of it never quite sits still.

Zellige effect tiles carry that same character into a porcelain or ceramic tile made to a consistent size and thickness: the lumps, the chipped glazed edges and the depth of a hand-finished glaze. That consistency makes it far easier to lay, and often the only practical way to get the look on a floor or in a shower at all.

Colour has opened up considerably in our range, spanning cool, watery tones through warm clay and earthy shades to much darker, near-black options, so the same character can sit as a calm, textured backdrop in one colour or turn bolder when two or three tones are blended across a wall.

Grout is the considered detail that matters most here. Matched to the tile, the glaze variation becomes the whole story and the wall looks like one soft, textured surface, which is exactly why the kitchen splashback remains its single most popular use, catching the light along the run between worktop and wall units without needing a pattern anywhere else.
