Rustic Floor Tiles

A rustic floor is a forgiving one. Texture, movement and variation in tone mean that the ordinary business of living, boots, dogs, spilled coffee, the odd scuff, settles into the surface rather than sitting on top of it, which is why our rustic floor tiles work so well in hallways, kitchens, boot rooms and garden rooms, the parts of a house that take the most traffic.

Tumbled limestone is the classic within this group, its softened edges and fossil detail carrying the shading of the stone it was cut from. Terracotta brings warmth and a floor that only improves with age, while flagstones bring scale and weight suited to older properties where a smaller format would fuss. A chiselled stone-effect porcelain offers a practical alternative where sealing and upkeep need to be kept to a minimum.

Slip resistance is one of the reasons people choose rustic tiles and one of the reasons they keep them, since a textured face grips underfoot, wet or dry, in a way a polished surface can't. All of these work over underfloor heating too, and the laying pattern makes a difference too, with random courses, opus patterns and mixed formats looking far more like a floor that feels rooted in the house than a straight grid does.
