Rectangle Bathroom Tiles

Bathrooms are often the smallest room in a house, so a layout trick that changes how big it feels matters more here than almost anywhere else. Point the tile along the floor's long run, or up a tall wall, and a boxy bathroom starts to feel more generous; turn it crossways instead and a narrow one feels broader.

This shape goes by different names depending on how large it's cut: brick-shaped, metro, flagstone among them, though every tile in our collection still keeps to one size, which suits a bathroom's mix of floor, wall and shower enclosure without breaking up the scheme.

A brick bond gives a classic, staggered finish well suited to a full-height wall; stacking the tiles square-on feels calmer and more contemporary; and herringbone turns a splashback behind the basin into a proper feature. Sized so the width comes in at around two times the height, all three layouts still look clearly rectangular, whichever way they're set.
