A kitchen earns its keep every day, so the tiles across its floor need to sit quietly behind the cabinetry, worktops and appliances that do the daily work rather than pulling focus from them. A flat, calm tone gives that backdrop, standing in for the deeper grain and softer, worn-in edge that suit a more traditional room.

Bigger-format porcelain or stone, laid with narrow grouting, is the usual choice for our collection, so the floor looks like one continuous run rather than a grid of small pieces. That's especially useful in an open-plan kitchen-diner, where the same surface often continues from the cooking area into the dining space beyond. Pink, grey and navy all find a home within this same restrained approach.

Contemporary pattern and design haven't disappeared either, offering a considered accent for a splashback or a feature run without disrupting that orderly character.
