Herringbone & Chevron

Few patterns carry as much pedigree as herringbone, an architectural layout that adds instant depth wherever it appears. Any tile cut in a rectangular, elongated format can be laid this way, which is part of why it turns up across so many different materials and finishes.

Underfoot, a smaller, parquet-style format gives herringbone a fine, detailed rhythm that suits period and contemporary interiors alike. On walls, the same pattern applied to one of our decorative tiles moves the eye away from a standard brick or metro bond and into something more considered.

Chevron offers a related but distinct option, its deft, angled cut creating a sharper, more directional line than herringbone's classic zigzag. Both patterns reward a tile with enough length to make the geometry stand out clearly.
