Not every project we work on wears its history on its sleeve. This one is emphatically modern, a brand new five-bedroom home built for entertaining, with an indoor pool, a sauna, a games room and two home offices. The interiors are by WN Interiors, with bespoke fitted joinery by Lamco, and the look is high-gloss and high-precision throughout, all lacquered cabinetry, exotic veneers, glass and integrated light. Against that polish, our Richmond Limestone does something quietly essential. It grounds the house.
Natural stone brings a warmth and a tactility that man-made finishes cannot, and in a scheme this crisp that contrast is the point. Richmond Limestone’s soft, pale tone and gentle movement give the eye somewhere calm to rest, a hard-wearing natural surface underfoot that reads as timeless where much around it is emphatically of the moment.
That balance between the handmade and the high-tech is what stops a home like this feeling like a showroom. The limestone carries the same quiet material honesty from one space to the next, a constant thread beneath the changing character of each room, and it will still look right in years to come when the trends around it have moved on.
It is a good reminder that even the most modern interior is better for something drawn from the ground. Stone gives a new build a sense of permanence from the day it is laid, and it wears the years more gracefully than any finish beside it.
