Here at Ca’ Pietra we are always so excited to share details of our retailers. So this month we are thrilled to throw the showroom spotlight on Tetbury’s Closa, an independent Neptune retailer run by husband and wife team Andy and Sam Jennings along with their daughter Lauren. Set within an old chapel, the space is simply stunning and the perfect destination showroom to give any project a unique and special touch.
This beautiful Cotswolds showroom offers additional brands for flooring, worksurfaces, lighting and appliances as well as stone and tiles from Ca’ Pietra. This all-encompassing portfolio gives customers a one-stop shop for all their interiors needs.
“We feel the style of the spaces we create are timeless,” explains Senior Designer, Lauren. “We don’t follow trends and we love creating unique spaces suited to the client, their needs and their homes. The Neptune furniture really does work in any house. Its traditional in-frame cabinets have been designed with that in mind, whether it’s a Georgian manor house, a contemporary new build or an old chapel like our showroom, the cabinets will work.”
Closa offers four Neptune furniture collections. Suffolk is a simple painted Shaker design with in-frame cabinets and oak internals. Henley is a more contemporary in-frame kitchen available in oak or painted with recessed beading on doors and drawers. Chichester was the first kitchen range Neptune introduced and this is painted internally and externally with a beading around the drawers and a raised moulding around the doors. Finally, there is Limehouse, the most contemporary with horizontal lines in the front of the cabinets, oak internals and painted externals. This kitchen isn’t in-frame or lay-on but rather it’s a fusion of the two with no visible frame for the doors and drawers to sit within.
Perfectly complementing Neptune furniture is Ca’ Pietra stone and tiles, a natural partner to the timeless quality of the Neptune brand. “We love how easy it is to work with and recommend Ca’ Pietra products to our clients,” adds Lauren. “The brochure makes it easy for us to know the products well and clearly see and show our clients different options before moving onto the sample stage. Everything is priced in the brochure so for clients working to a budget, they can clearly see the prices, which really helps. Ca’ Pietra’s Instagram page and website are also really useful sources to refer clients to if they’d like to see even more imagery of different products.”
The new Closa showroom was the result of a move from Burford to Tetbury in June 2020 and the major refurbishment was completed in May 2021. It was Lauren who designed the space, bouncing ideas off the Neptune team and creating something truly unique. “It’s a project I’ve been waiting over five years to do,” she says, “so you can imagine I had so many ideas about what I wanted to display and how I wanted it to feel. I really am inspired by everything – endless Instagram saves that I’ve collected over the years, Pinterest boards, architecture from nearby places, images from holidays, colours and textures I’ve seen and snapped photos of. My main goal was to have the showroom feel like someone’s home. I wanted to create realistic room sets so people could come in and imagine exactly what it would look like in their own space. I wanted to create a calming, relaxing space that customers can come and enjoy.”
Some of Lauren’s favourite Ca’ Pietra products can be seen within these room sets. “You just can’t beat natural materials,” she says. “The variety, texture and overall look and feel cannot be achieved with man-made products. For this reason, we’re a big fan of limestone flooring. As well as its beautiful nature, it’s extremely practical for the majority of our projects, which are kitchens, utility rooms, laundry rooms, boot rooms and other living areas such as entrance halls.
“As well as these factors, there is such a great choice of colouring, texture and pattern so you can achieve the exact look you want to complement the rest of the design scheme. I’m also a big fan of Ca’ Pietra’s Marlborough Terracotta tiles. We have some original pine parquet in the showroom for our main flooring area, which leads on to a raised section with some steps up. It’s all open, so I wanted to use a product with a similar colour and shape to the pine but with a different texture and it has worked perfectly. On display we also have Medieval Bourgogne, which is my absolute favourite, as well as Lucca, which is a lovely versatile warm grey and Calcot limestone, a warm honey coloured floor. Another of my favourites in Neranjo in the seasoned finish, which I would have loved to have on display but just didn’t have the space.”
Closa not only has the most stunning showroom to showcase a huge variety of products, but the team are also on hand with expert advice, too. “We like to think we have very good knowledge of natural stone, tiles, fitting and installation,” adds Lauren, “and can really give clients all the information they want and need. We also have relationships with local floor fitters, who we can arrange to come out to clients’ homes, measure up and carry out a site survey, as all details are taken into account before ordering. We have a few samples in the showroom of floor and wall tiles as well as four of the Ca’ Pietra products on display. We are also in the process of getting more samples for our sample area upstairs, so clients can see a lot more and larger format tiles when they come in.”
