The Black Edition for Romo Speakeasy Salon by Studio Duggan

For WOW!house 2026, we are delighted to have worked with Studio Duggan on a room of real theatre and intrigue. The Black Edition for Romo Speakeasy Salon is a richly layered interior shaped by heritage and modernity, craftsmanship and glamour, complete with a secret bar waiting to be discovered.

Behind The Curtain

For WOW!house 2026, we are delighted to have worked with Studio Duggan on a room of real theatre and intrigue. Black Edition for Romo Speakeasy Salon is conceived as a principal reception room for living, working and entertaining, a richly layered interior of heritage and modernity, craftsmanship and glamour. Tucked away within it is a secret bar, waiting to be discovered. It is a small, richly dressed room of patterned walls, a curved velvet banquette and a herringbone floor, and at its working heart sits a single slab of our Versailles Rouge marble.

That slab does three jobs at once. It forms the bar top, rises into a shaped upstand behind the tap and holds an integrated basin cut directly into the stone. A double bullnose profile runs along the front of the counter giving the marble a rounded, almost upholstered quality that suits the mood of the room.

Versailles Rouge brings warmth and movement to the scheme, its tone settling comfortably against the deep walls and brass detail rather than calling for attention. Pale veining drifts across the surface, so no two glances find quite the same pattern.

A speakeasy is meant to reward those who seek it out. Here some of that reward is in the stone, worked with enough care that the bar feels made to be used, leaned on and enjoyed long into the evening.

About Studio Duggan

Studio Duggan is a leading, London based design studio creating distinctive, finely crafted and well considered interiors for high-end residential and boutique commercial projects.

Tiffany’s background in set design and interior styling for publications such as Elle Decoration and Livingetc, formed the perfect foundation from which to found Studio Duggan in 2011. With over 15 years of experience in the Interior Design sector, Tiffany began by studying Theatre Practice and Scenic Art at the Central School of Drama in North London and Interior Design at the prestigious KLC School of Design in Chelsea.

"We chose Ca' Pietra's Versailles Red honed marble for the concealed bar because it instantly brought warmth, richness and a wonderful old-world feel to the space. The beautiful terracotta tones worked perfectly with Black Edition's embroidered grasscloth walls, creating a palette that felt layered, inviting and quietly luxurious.

It's one of my favourite marbles – full of warmth, beautifully tactile and alive with natural movement. It gave the hidden bar a wonderful sense of age and permanence, as though it had always been there.

The shaped splashback became a real feature, and Ca' Pietra did a fantastic job of bringing it to life with such care and precision. They were an absolute pleasure to work with throughout the project, bending over backwards to make sure every detail was perfect in time for the WOW!house opening."
