In the Spotlight : Astrid’s Cornflower

In the Spotlight : Astrid’s Cornflower

In the spotlight this week is Astrid’s Cornflower, a cool, calm and serene deep blue shade from our Proper Good Paint™ range.

With a hint of Mediterranean moonlight, Astrid’s Cornflower is cool, calm and steady. Astrid, meaning Star in Greek, was the perfect name for this serene Proper Good Paint™ shade, which suits all schemes and all style of interior.

In colour psychology, blue calls to mind feelings of tranquillity and is often described as a peaceful and secure colour. Often seen as a sign of stability and reliability, it can help to promote productivity, which is why it works so well in home offices and gyms, along with children’s playrooms too.

This paint shade works impeccably well in bedrooms, hallways and utility rooms, thanks to its cosy feel. Create an instant impact by painting hallway walls with Astrid’s Cornflower, and pairing with a bold patterned tile such as Adam Encaustic in Grey or Brompton Porcelain in Kew underfoot for that dramatic effect.

In a utility space, it goes without saying that Astrid’s Cornflower is a popular choice to coat cabinets. Get creative by carrying the colour onto the walls too, as well as the internal door and skirting, to create that seamless flow. The organic blue hues found within this paint tone means it works naturally well with timber too. Leave wooden worktops in a natural finish, and pair with a practical wood-effect porcelain floor tile such as Chatham Porcelain in Oak or Walnut laid in a herringbone format.

It’s no secret that blue is a great colour for bedrooms, thanks to its calming properties. The undertones behind Astrid’s Cornflower help to keep it from feeling too harsh and stark within interior design and when styling within a bedroom, we suggest pairing with shades such as Drew’s Pebble and Birdie’s Grey. For soft furnishings, select a warm grey fabric headboard, with matching bed linen, and rich blue throw. Stick with warming undertones for accessories to stop the room from becoming too cold. Finding this balance can be made easy when using gold tones especially, think gold framed wall art, gold and glass side tables as well as gold lamp bases such as these from our friends at Pooky.
