Future Proof

This contemporary shower room and WC was designed by husband and wife team Sophie and Neil Harrold of Simply Bathrooms to accommodate three generations under one roof. Situated in the heart of Kingston, the period property belongs to a 93-year old grandmother, who wanted to modernise and future-proof her old Victorian WC and bathroom. The solution was to renovate both spaces, adding grab-rails and adapting the layout to create a level access shower room with non-slip tray and a striking design that includes Ca’ Pietra’s Istanbul honed marble mosaic for the floor. “We loved the vintage style of the existing tiling,” says Sophie, “but our client was very clear about wanting a change – something modern and fresh. We kept the wall tiles as a limestone-effect porcelain and added character with the absolutely stunning Istanbul flooring. It feels in keeping with the property’s traditional features and is a great choice for flooring as it’s not as slippery as a larger format tile with a smooth surface.”
