If like us, you love nothing more than idly scrolling through Instagram while the kettle boils, or while putting off getting out of bed in the morning, then this round-up of four home accounts to follow will certainly pique your interest. Better still, not only do they satisfy your inner voyeur and inspire the interior decorator in you, but these are all accounts with fewer than 10k followers, so they’re far more likely to be lesser-known…
Not even one year old, this early-stage home build account got us with its bio alone: ‘just rebuilding a whole house and trying to not cry myself to sleep.’
An early 1900s house that once had a shopfront attached to its façade, its owners are revamping it and then some. With a very chic concrete spiral staircase in place, parquet floors beginning to be laid, and a palette emerging of velvet-y charcoal grey and brass, there’s more than enough eye candy to draw you in but still plenty of miles to go before Casa de Cara is done and dusted.
A 220-year-old cottage with eight outbuildings (and a 1980s pool to remodel), there’s plenty for the owners of The Woodbury to get their teeth stuck into.
They’re only 72 Instagram posts into their project, but so far you’ll see the planning submission drawings of what they’re intending to create with the main house (which was recently granted meaning it’s now full steam ahead).
Head to their highlights too to see what else this brave duo are up to with their side hustles and shepherd’s hut project. There’s no stopping them!
In at number three is an account that isn’t in fact a home renovation one but a design and construction company run by Texan couple Brett and Kara (find them at @brettandkara).
If the likes of @amberinteriors and @alicegrace appeal to you then you’ll love their light, calm, modern country take on interior design. Picture warm neutral colour palettes, natural materials aplenty and lots of texture through weathered vintage rugs, terracotta pots and rough sawn wood panelling. Coming to a mood board near you…
Finally, to the award-winning blog-meets-Instagram feed belonging to interior designer Christian Bense. Described as “a refreshing tale on interior design, dealing with trends and spotting the wood for the trees”, this beautifully curated grid breaks down inspiration with approachable guidance on key aspects of room décor like window treatments and cushion styling.
His latest post of a glamorous guest loo designed by @maison.blonde has been a particular favourite of ours – not just the marble, look up to the frilly fabric lampshade.
With each post, you’ll leave his account feeling as informed as you do inspired…
